Swipe through to see the before and after shots of these two old apples that needed renovating. Certified arborists @krystnparmley and @bendelaney got after it yesterday in the cold! :)
Sometimes when trees need to be taken down we are able to repurpose them as wildlife snags. These dead trees are incredibly important features within natural forests as well as the urban environment as they provide habitat for a variety of creatures (including the bats we hope will inhabit those slats on the front side of this one).
The very next day after @bendelaney made this snag, a young eagle came to check it out! (Last slide)
A few moments with our crew at the massive project we are working on at @downrivergolfcourse for @spokaneparks. Unfortunate to see so many large pines lost to bark beetle, but great to be able to work with such a great team to get it all cleaned up.
Team work to achieve house clearance yesterday morning.

We want to introduce our new addition to the company. Welcome to the team Mason.
A little laughter to re-energize the crew. Thanks @bubbzayren24 for being silly and strong at the same time.
As the weather keeps getting warmer a nice patch of shade is ever welcoming.

Tree climbing competitions are a great place to learn new techniques, meet new people of all skill levels and be in a supportive environment. A few of our employees went on a road trip to Idaho so they could compete and hang out for an eventful weekend.
Finishing up another successful day in the field.

Waiting patiently as the sun warms our skin from the outside as it reaches within. Energy harvested and used wisely. #arborist #climbing #arboristofinstagram #arboriculture
Soaking up every ray of sun and repaying it back with a smile of content.
Rainy days.
The snow will soon melt away and seep into the soil, quenching the thirst of our earthly companions.
Winter allows us to see a deciduous trees full form and make impactful structural pruning cuts that can correct foliage hidden defects.
High or low, we are always staying tethered and connected.
Fall is in the air
The newest vehicle in our fleet. Created by Dan Maus, an arborist we are lucky to have with us. He’ll have to wake up little earlier to make it to the jobsite in time. #bicycle

A nice view from downtown at the Saranac Commons.
Descending down the canopy of a tropical looking Horse chestnut.
Hazardous spruce removal.
Had the honor of creating a video presentation for the ISA interpreting mushrooms on and around trees. It was a wonderful opportunity to deepen my knowledge and support our community of passionate, devoted, curious professionals. #fungiontrees

We removed a leaning Hawthorne with root decay and were gifted a cute bunny.

This wood rose let’s me know when I have forgotten to water it by shedding one leaf, a yellow flag to get my attention.
Created a wildlife snag, reduced hazards, and helped rig up a darn big flag on Lake Coeur d’Alene.
After a couple days of thick clouds we enjoyed the warming rays of a blue sky.
Admiring the sun and the shade.
Another wonderful view in Spokane.
Beautiful views from an elegant Horse chesnut.
Hazen Audel built this rad counter for my new bathroom with wood from trees we removed and milled by Matt Stewart. I am honored to have a piece of Hazen’s in my house! #woodworking
I love Easter. And next year Spirit Pruners, with Sellkirk Development, is it going to host an Easter egg hunt at the Arboretum! #easter
If you want to be ridiculed by construction workers, show up to the job with tools that still have stickers on them. #jobsite
When pruning flowering shrubs and trees which are just starting to bud, put them in a vase and let them blossom in your home. It’s that time of year! #fruitpruning

Blowing in the wind.
A nice day for a climb.
Thank you City if Spokane! Especially Urban Forestry and Planning, for, after years of deliberating, offering an annual obstruction permit for tree companies allowing us to respond quickly to citizens needs. One of the only cities in the country with this pro business, pro efficiency model.

Character built with every twist of a branch, with the guidance of the sun and the nourishment of the soil.
Today we cared for trees in the downtown Spokane area. Making it safer for pedestrians and helping the trees with a well needed cleanse.
Getting a little help from a friend.
Our last day on the lake. We got the honor of pruning this majestic Ponderosa pine.
Working on the lake.
A change of colors and a change in seasons.
Making sure everything is in alignment and ready for the shift in seasons.
Dragging brush into the weekend.
We are frequently asked how to get rid of roots that come up in peoples lawns. Often it’s just a perspective shift that is needed. Instead of perfect clean lawns, the texture of roots can enrich the landscape. #treeroots
This good voodoo scarecrow was mysteriously placed at our shop and has been living here for the last month.
The peaceful tranquility of working in the country.
Nanking cherry! Love these bushes with sweet/tart jewels of fruit. Easily pruned in a variety of forms.
These lady bugs took initiative to safely climb the trees we were pruning. They ascended using our ropes and continued forward on their journey to a tasty buffet.
The dismantling of a tree with delicate fences around. If it fell in the woods would it make a sound? Yes, of course.
An inch is a mile. We transported a declining Norway maple that we removed to be milled and repurposed.
